Listening
Students recognize and understand basic phrases and expressions in familiar contexts (e.g., greetings, self-introductions, classroom instructions).
Students understand simple instructions and questions in Chinese.
Speaking
Students can use basic phrases in Chinese to introduce themselves, greet others, and ask simple questions (e.g., "What is your name?", "Where are you from?").
Students master the tones of the Chinese language with the help of pinyin.
Reading and writing
Students can recognize and write approximately 100 Chinese characters.
Students can read simple expressions and dialogues.
Grammar
Students understand and can use the basic sentence structure of Chinese (subject-verb-object) and simple particles (e.g., 吗 for questions).
Culture
Students are aware of the most important aspects of Chinese culture, such as formal greetings, personal space, and etiquette in common social situations.
Language Learning Resources
Students know how to find and use dictionaries and supplementary materials appropriate for their level online.
