Tallinn Development and Training Centre organised, 10 May 2018, at the Cultural Hub, the international conference “Free public transport for all. Dream and reality”
Estonian Minister for Economic Affairs and Infrastructure, Kadri Simson, and French MEP, Karima Delli. Chair of the Committee on Transport and Tourism at the European Parliament gave the keynote address to the 135 attendees.
Other speakers included Tallinn Mayor Taavi Aas, Dunkirk (France) Mayor Patrice Vergriete, Avesta (Sweden) Mayor Lars Isacsson, Templin (Germany) Mayor Detlef Tabbert, Zory (Poland) adviser to the Mayor Ana Ujma and representative from Sao Paulo (Brazil) Daniel Santini.
Also talking about “the dream of free public transport” was Paris deputy mayor Emmanuel Gregoire, Rovereto (Italy) city councillor Paolo Verignano, Tübingen (Germany) Mayor Boris Palmer and Vilnius(Lithuania) former mayor and current city council member Arturas Zuokas.
Kadri Simon, Taavi Aas, Highway Public Transport chief executive Kirke Williamson discussed the process of turning Estonia into the World’s first free public transport nation. Kose municipalities chairman of the council and European Regional Committee member Uno Silberg and University professor from South Wales Stuart Cole gave presentations also.
Conference attendees also took part in excursions to the TLT (Tallinn Linnatranspordi AS) depot, took a tour of Tallinn and visited Lahemaa national Park.
